windy, no lift - stay at home. Actually more like 100 fpm. Better fly a carbon dragon...

Saturday May 3, 2008
Start: 22:48

no lift and windy

Sunday May 4, 2008
Start: 00:21

Forecast was for 70% rain but now says only 10%...still windy (25km/h) but if that lays down, it may be OK. Lift isn't that great so I'd bet it won't clear in time.

Monday may be great tho...

Start: 08:38

Lift is GOOOD.
Wind is BAD.
B/S ratio is 3-4.
I stay home...
BUT (4pm update) see clouds off in the distance. You'd stay up if you were Dustin.

We're getting there...the season is about to start...

Saturday May 10, 2008
Start: 16:10
End: 17:30
Start: 16:20
End: 17:50

We only got in the air after 4PM and the lift was great. I was only able to get on the road at 1:15 and then had to un-short-pack my glider after my trip. I called Steve at noon as it looked good (soarable) then to make sure he was out there.

Steve towed me right into 2+m/sec which turned into 3+m/sec and up to base. It was pretty cold up there! Worked my way upwind half way directly over the lake before I turned tail and headed straight home.

Start: 16:30
End: 17:30
Start: 16:51

May be a bit breezy but it 'should' be a soarable day! Too breezy for XC - blowing ya towards YYZ airspace.

Wind is lighter later in the day(4PM) 6km out of the NW and lift is reasonable, 4-500fpm up to 3-4000'agl. Maybe a good day to spend getting your gear together and some nice evening flights in.

Sunday May 11, 2008
Start: 17:00

No lift - go flying Sat or not at all this weekend.

Tuesday May 13, 2008
Start: 12:59

Light winds, decent lift, base is high enough...even venturing out XC would be good (good for out-and-returns)

Start: 13:01
Start: 14:46

My fantastic wife told me I should join you guys so I didn't give her a chance to change her mind. I high-tailed it out of home at 11:50. I hadn't looked at the forecast for the weekend but I think we're pretty booked up so flying is doubtful for me this weekend so I thought I better get my fix.

It was great to see five pilots (+ Steve) out on a weekday...I'm glad other's work is as flexible as mine. I didn't think there was much weekday flying around here but I hope I am wrong.

Start: 22:59

Just a dream come true for me as I managed to get of work at 11;00 and not have to call in sick.
I booted out to the field in record time 1hr 10 yes I was speeding and set up.

I had Steve and Mark take a look at my glider after a dusty ripped through the field last year and tossed it about.
Things looked ok but the VG chord needs to be re routed. But flying takes precedence.

Notes from the November meeting can be found here.

The next Recreational & Flight Training consultation session has been scheduled for May 15th, 2008 in Toronto. The meeting will focus on airspace and service design options derived from your input at the previous consultation sessions. The results of this meeting will be the basis of the aeronautical study to implement airspace and charting changes in the Toronto area early next year. This is an important juncture for your organization to provide input.

Friday May 23, 2008
Start: 13:18

Light lift, moderate winds. Weather Network says 0% POP tho. You may be able to get some good soaring in early. Bad wind direction for XC.

.

Saturday May 24, 2008
Start: 13:36

0% POP, High of 19. A bit breezy from the N (bad direction for XC)

Sunday May 25, 2008
Start: 13:38

22¬?C Cloudy periods 10% POP
Good direction for XC around Pearson airspace
Lift is the wild card,in centre of small dense high like this, but could, indeed should be really good at some point on Sunday.I would favour backside of this high when as Mark noted it would be better for gettin us around YYZ air. Aint never been north from SOGA (might need Milko as a tour guide)
Gee I hope the 72h isnt suckering us; but by Sat aft (sorry Wayne...looks awful on Sat...far too windy wrong way at alt) we should have a darned good idea.

Wednesday May 28, 2008
Start: 13:08

Better at 1PM than at 4PM. Bad direction for XC. Wind a little strong to buck the headwind and head north...but the B/S ratio is high so it maybe OK for trying to head North.

Thursday May 29, 2008
Start: 13:13

Base seems to be low....BUT, XC SKies has been reporting lower tops-of-lift than we've actually been experiencing.

Start: 13:17

Windy to stay local...but if base is higher than forecasted, it may be a good day to go XC a far way East (due to the West wind).

No tug pilot.

Friday May 30, 2008
Start: 01:53

Not looking good (as of Wed night)

Saturday May 31, 2008
