Now Thursday isn't looking good either...and the weekend doesn't look good on The Weather Network but the forecasts on the radio says it's going to be dry... You can now signup for forecasts to post your intentions to fly or not. Login & visit this forecast's page for instructions.

Lighter winds later. XC SKies says it's a good day. A rather high chance of thunderstorms tho...

The forecast was ify...but the sky looked soooo good. Maybe this time we should have listened to the forecast (maybe I'm just bitter...). It was a strange day....from keys getting locked in trunks (Troy) to me breaking a weak link coming off of the cart (it was good it broke so easily) to broken aluminum (minor). The clouds looked soooo good, I had convinced Ken to try a 50km triangle...but he and I just glided upwind and after finding ZERO lift, he landed and I high-tailed it back home. I planned on flying again but lost my drive after the incident and noone else stayed up much. Start: 15:48
Looks like the only chance of flying for the next week or so. XC potential is very good. Younger said he's in for towing. It looks (marginally) better earlier. The convergence of the winds seem to have moved out over lake Erie.

Whole mess of fun on a marginal day. What a wonderful flight. Super light lift and some distance between Clouds were few. Landing was slow and I thought I had just enough to flare but it was At 20 feet there was 10mph.

The only hitch in the forecast I see is there may be some high clouds and no or few cu's. The B/S ratio isn't all that great but should be fine. I'm hoping the "Thermal Top" field is what is most accurate! Start: 15:12

Disappointing. I had thought that the forecast was going to give us some XC'able conditions and I had hoped that XC Skies was under-calling the day as I had seen it do earlier this year - no such luck. I declared some pretty hefty goals for the day on those assumptions but it became evident real quick that those goals were going to be far from attainable.

Looks like a great day. The key difference in the forecast today is the B/S ratio is a perfect score saying it 'should' be no problem to stay up....mainly due to stronger lift (than Tues) and much lighter wind. I suspect you will get tou about 4500'asl. The 10AM forecast shows a perfect B/S ratio so you should be able to soar from 10AM on (in theory). Lift will be light all day tho. Don't soar too late tho...you don't want to miss the party. There's even signs of convergence as you head towards Chatham. Start: 21:02
Party! BBQ! Pool party! Friday July 4th. 5PM til the last person leaves. We're having it on Friday so it doesn't conflict with weekend flying. Bring the entire family - there will be kids of all ages (0-70+ yrs old). We're supplying burgers 'n' dogs. BYOB and bring a small salad or dessert to share. No eggs or nuts please. We also host a ring-toss tournament (like horse-shoes)...it's lots of fun for all.

Looks like a great day for local soaring...light winds, the B/S Ratio of 7+ means it 'should' be easy to stay in lift (unlike Canada Day where the B/S was 1 or 2 I think). Lift is light tho....reported at 450fpm (less your sink rate of about 200fpm) - so stick with what lift you have. This is the 1PM forecast, the 4PM forecast is similar but not quite as good. Start: 09:28
If you weren't there today you missed the best day I've seen at the field this year. I guess that's not saying much as I've only been out a few times but it was good enough to stay up for almost 4 hr. Lift varied from light to 1000 up (once). Topped out at 4400'. Had my share of luck with a couple of 500' low saves from the field north of the hanger. Bob, Don, Milko, Terry, Troy, and Steve had some good flights also. Hopefully they will post their stories.
