I'm just so impatient....everytime I fly before the magic 2PM I get bit. :)
I was so itchin' to get some airtime and some XC that at 1:15 I couldn't resist anymore and took to the skies. I had two decent climbs and that was enough to sucker me into going on the course I chose - a 50KM triangle. I even set my flight computer for a 2PM start window (as if I was flying a comp) but I jumped the start anyways and headed North on course.
I had a couple small climbs and I was doubting my decision to go XC but pressed on for a bit more and got a good climb and that convinced me to stick with my plan...that was just enough to get me well out of reach of the field and of course that was my last good climb.
20km out at (or just past) my first turnpoint of the triangle I landed in a hay field they were in the midst of cutting. Rick Hines graciously came and got me after his first flight.
I just got stuck in a big blue hole right at the 2PM mark. Milko and Troy landed around that same time. Milko and Rick went for second flights when I got back into a cu filled sky and didn't seem to have a problem staying up. Don was also up there in Troy's Sport2 (a story behind that...) and when I left, Steve was approaching the 3hr mark and was nowhere to be found.
I think it was as good of a day as forecasted...but it started much later. I regret going so early but my impatience got the best of me. I almost set up again when I got back but I was just as happy to scoot home for diner with the family.
If the weekend turns out like today, we'll have a lot of happy pilots.

Nice to see Milko posting
Nice to see Milko posting his flights on the HPAC server as well:
