A wonderful goodbye flight, dedicated to Mrs. K.
This lady kept my glider in her garage for more than 10 years, baked the best apple pies ever, and was up and around right into her 93rd year.

I went down for her funeral, and had a lovely evening sendoff 1.5h flight with a short video goodbye and before landing experienced an amazing mystical shaft of sun phenomenon.

Just before dark, a tiny hole formed in the entirely overcast sky to the west.
Instead of the rain that I had feared, and that was quite possible in the forecast, a beautiful little shaft of sunset light shot down to the ground.

It was as if Mrs. K was up there above me, sending a little message.
Brightening the way, like she always did.
A sunny reminder that somehow, somewhere she's still with us.

Whatever you believe, I took it as beautiful symbol of the sunny, illuminating spirit that Jim's Mom radiated with such grace.
